The Patrol Division is the most visible and responsive element of the Long County Sheriff's Office, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure the safety and security of all Long County residents.

Our dedicated deputies are the first responders for virtually all calls for service, providing a wide array of essential functions to protect and serve the community.

Core Services & Responsibilities

The Patrol Division is responsible for a comprehensive range of public safety duties, including:

  • Neighborhood and Area Patrols: Proactively patrolling residential, business, and rural areas to deter crime and maintain a highly visible presence.

  • Emergency & Incident Response: Rapidly responding to all emergency and non-emergency calls, from traffic incidents to major crimes.

  • Domestic Violence Response: Providing immediate assistance, protection, and resources for victims and managing domestic dispute situations with sensitivity and professionalism.

  • School Zone and Bus Safety: Conducting strict enforcement in school zones, ensuring the safe passage of students, and closely following school buses during their routes.

  • Investigating Suspicious Activity: Responding to and investigating reports of suspicious persons or vehicles to neutralize potential threats to the community.

  • Juvenile Complaints: Addressing and managing complaints involving minors, focusing on intervention and appropriate action.

  • Crisis Patient Transports: Facilitating the safe and secure transport of individuals experiencing a mental or medical crisis to appropriate treatment facilities.

  • Traffic Enforcement: Working to reduce accidents and enforce traffic laws throughout the county.
