The Long County Sheriff's Office is responsible for the professional processing and service of civil papers within Long County.
Our Process
We receive and process civil papers from:

Our local Long County courts.

Courts located throughout the country.
Once processed, the papers are served by our uniformed deputies to residents and businesses located within Long County.
Service Timeline and Notification
We strive to complete service promptly and efficiently.

General Rule: Civil papers are typically served within seven working days of being received by our office.

Proof of Service: Once service is perfected, the following steps are completed:

The service is officially recorded with the Clerk of Court's office.

The Sheriff's Service Form is returned to the courts.

A copy of the Sheriff's Service Form is mailed to the Plaintiff (the party requesting service).

Checking Service Status
To allow our deputies and staff sufficient time to complete the service process, we ask for your cooperation with the following guideline:
Please do not call our office to inquire about the status of service until seven (7) working days have passed since the papers were received.
