Welcome to C.H.A.M.P.S., a program designed to help Georgia's youth navigate the tricky waters of growing up with confidence, smarts, and a whole lot of fun.

C.H.A.M.P.S. isn't just a catchy acronym-it stands for Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety. For twelve weeks, our amazing fifth graders get to hang out with a certified Deputy Sheriff for an hour each week, learning how to be safe, healthy, and happy. Think of it as a masterclass in living your best life, taught by a real-life superhero!

What We're All About 💡

Our mission is simple: to give kids the guidance, skills, and knowledge they need to be successful and awesome. We believe that being a kid should be a blast, and our program helps ensure it stays that way by promoting healthy, drug and alcohol-free, and non-violent activities. We're all about empowering kids to make great choices and understand the positive ripple effects they create.

Your Weekly C.H.A.M.P.S. Adventure 🗺️

Each week is a new adventure! Our program, led by the one and only Deputy Sheriff Thorn, covers a wide range of topics that are super relevant to today's world. Here's a sneak peek at some of the cool stuff we'll be tackling:

  • Internet Safety: We'll learn how to be digital detectives and stay safe online. No one wants a troll to ruin their gaming sesh, right?

  • Bullying & Peer Pressure: We'll arm ourselves with the best defenses against bullies, learn how to handle tough peer pressure, and discover the power of making the right choices.

  • Drugs & Alcohol: We'll get the real scoop on things like marijuana, meth, and prescription drugs, so our kids have the knowledge to just say no and avoid potential pitfalls.

  • Outdoor Activities: From the thrill of ATV safety to the peace of fishing, we'll cover how to enjoy the great outdoors safely. Plus, we'll even learn some firearm safety-because knowledge is power!

  • C.H.A.M.P.S. Project: The program culminates in a fantastic essay or poster contest, where kids get to show off everything they've learned and get creative. It's a chance to earn some serious bragging rights!

Deputy Thorn brings all this to life with real talk, engaging stories, and a great sense of humor. He's not just a teacher; he's a mentor who's passionate about helping kids thrive.
