Community Oriented Policing

Community Oriented Policing Services (C.O.P.S) is a model of policing that focuses primarily on developing relationships with community members. The main goal of community policing is to develop community partnerships, engage in problem-solving and implement a strategy to reduce low-level crime which in turn can reduce serious crimes. The Long County sheriff's office consists of dedicated personnel with one goal in mind, and that's to build the trust between the Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Long County. Through mutual understanding and collaboration, we can work together to arrest offenders, prevent crimes, solve ongoing issues within our communities and improve the overall way of life.
