Jail & Bonding Information

The Long County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) is committed to maintaining safety in our community. Please note the following crucial information regarding inmate housing, holds, bonds, and court dates.

🏡 Inmate Housing

The Long County Sheriff's Office does not currently operate its own jail facility.

  • The original Long County Jail, which was housed in the Long County Courthouse, was permanently closed following a fire in the early 1980s.

  • We currently house our inmates in surrounding county jails.

  • We deeply appreciate the assistance and collaboration of the Sheriffs and staff in these neighboring counties, whose support is vital in helping us keep Long County safe.

🔒 Inmate Holds

ALL holds placed on individuals booked by the Long County Sheriff's Office MUST be processed directly through the Long County Sheriff's Office.

  • Do NOT attempt to place a hold with the facility where the inmate is currently being housed.

⚖️ Bonds

The Long County Sheriff's Office does NOT set bonds. Bond amounts are determined by the appropriate judicial body:

  • Magistrate Court

  • State Court

  • Superior Court

🗓️ Court Dates and Notifications

The Long County Sheriff's Office is not responsible for notifying individuals of their court dates.

  • You will receive official notice of your court date from the Clerk of Court.

  • To inquire about a court date, please contact the Clerk of Court at (912) 545-2123.

  • It is your responsibility to inform the court and your bondsman immediately of any change of address to ensure you receive all necessary legal correspondence.
