"You've Won" Scams

🚨 Beware of "You've Won" Scams

Scammers often reach out by mail, phone, or email claiming you've won a prize-maybe a vacation, a sweepstakes, or even a lottery. The message is upbeat and urgent, encouraging you to act quickly to claim your reward.

But here's what really happens:
• You're told there's a fee, tax, or customs duty to pay before you can receive your prize.
• You're asked to provide your credit card or bank account information-or to wire money.

🎯 The truth: There is no prize. Once you send money or share your financial details, you risk losing funds and becoming a target for further scams.

✅ How to Protect Yourself
• Keep your money and personal information private. Never share financial details with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.
• Never wire money to claim a prize. Legitimate contests don't require payment to receive winnings.
• Spread the word. Even if you recognize these scams, someone you know might not. A quick reminder could save them from financial loss.

Stay alert. Stay informed. And help others do the same.
